Although the Deadpool we saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was not the Deadpool comic book fans know and love (as the merc with the mouth), development hell is finally over as Ryan Reynolds was cast once again in the role. (Because honestly, despite all the issues with the X-Men version of Deadpool, we all know Reynolds was made for the part.) The film, tentatively set for release on February 12, 2016, is still in the process of casting.
And with that, today, we find out that Morena Baccarin (the voice of Gideon on The Flash and playing Dr. Leslie Thompson on Gotham), has been cast as the female lead in the new Deadpool movie. The disfigured (and sarcastically nutty) character will have a love interest! Baccarin appears to be no stranger to the universe of comic book movies and television and has won the role in the upcoming film.
And while we’re at it… in case you missed the leaked motion capture footage of a test run by Reynolds and director Tim Miller with a portion of the script, check it out below. (Beware your virgin ears and eyes. This is definitely a clip geared for an R-rated movie.) The overwhelming positive response to the leaked footage is believed by some to be the reason the project got the green-light by Fox to continue development. Do you love it? Or do you love it?
