If there’s something strange in your neighborhood… Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters reboot director Paul Feig has called an all female cast for the next installation of the cult classic films. Today, Feig tweeted a picture of the 4 female actors set to play the new team out to fight the supernatural. The reboot will include Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.
The reboot is set to film in New York this summer, with a release date of July 22, 2016. But don’t get your hopes too high. The reboot may not be the 1984 original that you remember as Feig says that Ghostbusters 3 is planned to be more spooky than our old time favorites. However, considering the casting choices – we can’t help but wonder how “spooky” and “scary” Feig really plans to make the new film. A dash of comedy in serious situations may be just the kind of mix the director is going for.
How do you feel about the new team and a new Ghostbusters? Is this wise? Will it create a whole new audience for the franchise? Or is it better left alone, in our nostalgic cinema memories?
