Once again, nerd fandoms are mixing as Doctor Who’s David Tennant has been cast in the new series AKA Jessica Jones that will be released by Marvel and ABC Studies exclusively on Netflix. The British actor will play Zebediah Killgrave (Purple Man), a villain with the ability to control the minds of others using pheromones.
The new series is said to have a major focus on the retirement of Jones’ (Krysten Ritter) from the superhero life – said to be caused by the brainwashing havoc created by Purple Man. Following retirement, she carries on, getting into the detective business in New York City. While bearing in mind that one of Daredevil’s early enemies was Purple Man, we may see a long Marvel future for David Tennant in the role as Killgrave with the upcoming release of Daredevil on Netflix on April 10, 2015. No confirmations of this have been released – but fans know that Marvel can generally be depended upon to have an over-arching plan when it comes to their productions.
David Tennant joins the cast with Krysten Ritter playing the lead and Mike Colter as Luke Cage (Power Man). AKA Jessica Jones is the second series ordered for Netflix from Marvel, set to come after Daredevil, with plans to be followed with Marvel’s Iron Fist. Ultimately, the series are set to lead into a Defenders crossover miniseries.
