While Marvel takes over the movie world, DC is clearly out to take over the television world. Rumors of Supergirl have been flying around (pun intended), and finally the role of Clark Kent’s cousin has been filled. And wouldn’t you know it? It’s another Glee veteran being cast as a superhero (the first being Grant Gustin as the Red Streak known as The Flash).
Melissa Benoist has been set to play the lead role as Supergirl in the CBS pilot. The show, a product of Warner Bros. and Berlanti Prods. (Yes, THAT Berlanti) is set to follow Krypton born Kara Zor-El as she transitions from hiding her powers to embracing them as a girl in her 20s on Earth.
Ali Adler and Greg Berlanti (one of our television series writer heroes, with Arrow and The Flash attesting to his abilities to create a comic book show worth watching) have penned the Supergirl pilot, but the straight-to-series show has not yet set a premiere date.
Stay tuned for more news on the development of Supergirl and let us know what you think of the DC takeover of the airwaves on television!
